Book Launch: Allan Sekula’s “Fish Story” (republication)
3 October 2018
First published in 1995, Allan Sekula’s Fish Story offers a seminal early critique of global capitalism. Through his remarkable work as a photographer, filmmaker and critic, Sekula produced an expansive body of research into the oceanic modes of globalisation, and helped envision the complex forms of spatial power that condition contemporary existence. To celebrate MACK’s republication of Fish Story, this event invites a number of theorists from Goldsmiths’s Department of Visual Cultures and Centre for Research Architecture to discuss the significance of Sekula’s work for researching the relationship of art, space, infrastructure and power today. Participants: Ayesha Hameed, Lorenzo Pezzani, Irit Rogoff, Susan Schuppli. Organised by Louis Moreno.
