Unless the Water is Safer than the Land
Live Project
2017-18 MA Cohort
Over the course of four weeks
in Autumn 2017 twenty MA students conducted in-depth research into Australia’s
immigration policies and practices at sea, producing spatial and visual
analysis that reveals a striking pattern of human rights violations taking
place off the coasts of Australia. This Live Project was
conducted in partnership with the Global Legal Action Network, whose February
2017 communication to the International Criminal Court called for the launch of
an official investigation into the abuse of asylum seekers in offshore
detention facilities in Nauru and Papua New Guinea.
